It is estimated that 75% of all motorcyclists ride underinflated tyres. This leads to uneven wear, excessive temperatures, fuel wastage and shortened tyre life.
A sudden loss of air pressure during high speed riding can be fatal, yet air pressure monitoring instruments in the motorcycle cockpit are rare. Schlowy Customs in Johannesburg, South Africa, can fit this american wireless system and integrate it into to your instrument clustor. The system is both highly accurate and waterproof.
This accurate system works for both tubed and tubeless wheels taking measurements every few seconds, alternating between the front and the back wheels. The bright warning light illuminates immediately there is a loss of more than 12.5%, and again at 25% from the baseline tyre pressure as determined by the rider.
The system is made up of three parts i.e. two sensors, one for each wheel and the monitor shown above. The sensors can fit inside the wheel rim or attach on the outside of the wheel rim onto the valve stem. The sensors transmit the air pressure readings to the monitor using a radio frequency.
